An exceptional location
On the outskirts of Libourne, just 35 km from Bordeaux, the vineyards of Fronsac and Canon Fronsac exert a special attraction among the huge range of Bordeaux’s appellations, as much for the quality of their wines as for the charm of their rolling hills and rich history.
Sheltered by the meanderings of the Dordogne and Isle rivers, the climate is mild, while the clay-over-limestone soil of the Fronsac plateau drains naturally down the often-steep terrain.
In reality, the terroir differs between Fronsac in the north and Canon Fronsac in the south, where its distinctive characteristics derive from a calcareous limestone subsoil.
