Vignobles Ponty is a family-owned winery in Canon Fronsac, founded by Victor Ponty in 1905. In 2019, fifth generation Helene Ponty took over the winery from her father Michel. Since then, she started the conversion of the vineyard to organic practices and is also starting to manage the vineyard using the biodynamic philosophy. The young and enthusiastic team at Vignobles Ponty produces three Canon Fronsac wines: Château Grand Renouil, their “grand vin”, from the clay limestone plateau and hillside of Canon Fronsac, Petit Renouil, a fruitier style with a dominance of Cabernet Franc, and Château du Pavillon, the expression of Merlot on the warmer clay and sand terroir. Helene and her team believe wines are made to be shared and enjoyed rather than tasted, and thus emphasize freshness, reasonable alcohol levels and a subtle use of oak.
