From 1500 to 1809, the Mayne Vieil property belonged to the De Paty family. The squire De Paty, Lord of Mayne Vieil, built an important wine storehouses during XVIIth century, and during the XVIIIth, he replaced the fortified house by an elegant “Chartreuse” finished by Jean Raymond Fontemoing at the end of XIXth century, era when the Fronsac wines cost more than their St Emilion neighbours.

Since 1918, Château Mayne Vieil has belonged to the SEZE family that reconstituted the property after world war 1 and is particularly attached to the production of high-quality red wines.
